States That Mandate Maternity Coverage
In most states, health insurance providers do not have to provide coverage for pregnancy under individual or family health plans. This often comes as quite a surprise to a newly pregnant couple. In 2014, under the Affordable Care Act, all private insurance plans will be required to offer maternity coverage. Until then, here is a list of the 12 states that mandate coverage.
